The celebrity of athletes

Athletes, most people love watching them. Baseball, football, basketball, we love them all. Competition makes for good entertainment. I'm an athlete and I know I love the competition and for me playing is all I need. I don't need the big bucks to keep playing, though that would be nice. The big time athletes of today though seem like they are no longing happy with making a couple million. They want more. So they are doing all kinds of crazy stuff to get more money. We have all seen the Gatorade commercials with some kind of athlete on them, and that makes sense. Athletes drink Gatorade. What doesn't make sense is when athletes show up on a McDonald's commercial saying that they eat Mickey D's before every game. False. They would throw up if they did that. So why are they essentially lying to consumers? Because they just aren't rich enough. If they love the game they play then they should be happy with simply playing it. The ginormous check they get should be enough. Heck I'd be more than happy with that. The thought of more money must be very addictive I suppose. Oh well, they can do what they want as long as they continue to play their game and not mess up too badly..unless they play for the Yankee's or Steelers. Then they can mess up all day long.

The top one makes no sense to me, pro athletes do not eat that junk...They do however drink Gatorade.

Youtube killed the video star

I am no different from any other teenager when it comes to music. I enjoy listening to music when I'm in the car, when I'm working out or when I'm cleaning. Music is a big part of many peoples lives. I have found the artists I like from listening to the radio. I listen to XM radio channel 59 The Highway or channel 37 Octane. I think being on the radio is a great way for them to market themselves and to get their music heard. I know some artists do commercials or other things like that but how many people actually watch or listen to commercials. Also I think Pandora is a great way for artists to be heard. Pandora is free, I can listen to it anywhere I go and I enjoy that there is a variety of music to listen to. Then again, I don't think artists get paid very much to have their music played on Pandora. That being said, most artists are far from broke, maybe they should stop being greedy, especially if they want their music to be heard. If they are not happy with their income then why not do the commercials for Proactive or Cover Girl. As long as the artists continue to make their music I don't really care how they make their extra money or what not. If that's what they want to do then they have every right to do it. Who am I to complain as long as they are making the music I like.

Shouting the News

I am not someone who watches the news on a regular basis. Actually that's a lie, I never watch the news. Why don't I watch the news? Because I don't like whats on it. I do not want to hear about Syria because my sister is next in line to be deployed. I don't want to hear about Obama because his nonsense and craziness really pisses me off. He may be sending my sister in to fight in someone else's civil war. Anyways, now that my little rant is over, I just finished watching some news about Obamacare. I watched what Bill O'Reilly had to say about it and I agree with him. Anybody who took any kind of economics class would be able to see that Obamacare is too expensive. It makes absolute sense that business owners are not going to hire as many people now because it costs too much money to do so. One of the first things I learned in my economics class in highschool was that if you tax the businesses who are providing people with jobs then they are going to lay off those people and or not hire as many people. It just makes sense, why would they choose to have less money  in their own pocket just to hire more people. Bill O'Reilly stated this in a very simple way that everyone could understand. He also brought in someone who was all for Obamacare and proved him wrong on most of his thoughts. Now O'Reilly did interrupt a lot but I would have too given all the ridiculousness this guy was spewing out. O'Reilly did say that he does wish everyone could have health insurance but not if it destroy this country in the process. He also asked this Obamacare supporter what he thought about the Obamacare navigators. He told this guy that he was the czar of the navigators, and asked how he would test to see if these navigators actually understood Obamacare. I thought this was hilarious. Bill called this guy a Czar, Czars are in Russia and Russia is communist. I think Obamacare is a form of communism. Forcing the people who have a job and health care to pay more in taxes so that those who are to lazy to get an actually job can also reap the benefits of those who work hard for what they have.

Keith Olbermann reminds me of my brother. They both use big words and seem to talk you around in circles. They both insult you in very backhanded sort of ways trying to prove that they are by far the more smart human being and that you or whoever they talk to or about is obviously below them. I don't much like him and I found myself thinking that he was a smart ass. If you aren't on his side then you are below him. Yeah, I found it hard to watch more than 10 minutes of that crap so I stopped watching it.

Reality Television: Real or Unreal

Ohhh MTV, how you take up mine and many other teenagers life. We spend hours a day melting our brains watching this crap. But why? Well, because it is funny, it's entertaining and there's always a hot guy or girl for one to ogle at. One of my personal favorites is The Real World. This show has been going for longer than I have been alive. Take a group of people, put them in a house together and see what happens "when people stop being polite and start getting real". There's always good fights, heart break and much much more. What is this show really teaching us though? Well it's saying that it is "OK" to be drunk all the time, it's "OK" to be a slut (girl or guy) and it is saying that the worst repercussion of punching someone in the face is being kicked off the show. Some people may not be effected when watching this, some may just watch it for fun and I don't know if this is a direct correlation or not, but I'm starting to see more and more girls dressing inappropriately, more people going to parties and more fights. Why? BECAUSE THAT'S ALL WE SEE ON TV! Fights, sex, and good looking people make good TV.

Lets look at another one of my favorites shall we? Teen Mom. Let me just say, if I ever were to come home and tell my mother I was pregnant, I would not be getting my on TV show. Oh hell no. I'd would be getting an ass whooping and another job is what I'd be getting. Yes it is a good show to show teenagers the struggles of parenthood, however, I feel that it is setting a bad example.  A girl gets pregnant, and look at that! Fame and fortune are at her door step. I feel as though Teen Mom is condoning teen pregnancy. Yes, the kids are cute and yes we enjoy watching them grow and watching all the drama their parents go through but teen pregnancy is not something that should be condoned. Just like The Real World condoning sex, fights and drinking, Teen Mom is condoning teen pregnancy. So there's the dilemma...condone poor behavior for good TV shows, or discipline poor behavior and have bad TV shows. The struggle, it's real.

Good ol' Real World fight

Don't we all just love this Teen Mom... Janelle, missing her court date (for drugs) to go to a Kesha concert. Now that's someone we need on TV.

Remember the Newspaper?

News papers, if they aren't good for anything they're good for starting fires and covering the table when eating some steamed crabs. If you're reading this post you probably don't read news papers and if you're one of the few who do read newspapers and blogs well you're probably in your mid 40's or 50's. Am I wrong? If we're all being honest with ourselves then we know that newspapers are dying. The only people who really buy them or read them now a days are your grandparents. Just because you read the comic strip every now and then does not mean you read the paper and it is certainly not enough to keep the newspaper alive. So which news papers are more likely to stay alive? Is it the New York Times? The Baltimore Sun or is it The good Dundalk Eagle? Well in all honesty I think they are all going to die or at least they are going to be all online. Say bye bye to your fire starters.

The Dundalk Eagle, Dundalks community paper, I hope it stays alive. It's the only paper that posts about the CCBC Dundalk softball team. My picture was in the paper! I know, you all are jealous right? Well if this paper goes out of business I'm going to have to say bye bye to my five minutes of fame and my fire starter! We can't have that now can we? I think this paper will last at least until I'm out of college however. Dundalk is a pretty close community. Everyone knows who everyone is. Where else can you catch up on the local gossip about you neighbor? That;s one of the reasons why I think this paper has a chance of surviving. The public want to know what's happening. The older generation is not going to want to go online and look at blogs or Facebook or Twitter to find out what's happening. Until the older generation dies and this current generation becomes old, newspapers will continue to have some kind of business. Which is good for everyone working in the newspaper business. I don't think environmentalist will be too upset if the newspaper business were to die. Save some trees, that's for sure. That's the only good thing I can foresee coming out of the death of the newspaper industry. I don't read them, but I think we can all agree that we would miss seeing them around. What would we use to start our fires? What would we use to cover our tables when we eat steamed crabs? What will we use as blankets to keep us warm when the zombie apocalypse happens? Those are the real questions. That's why we need our newspapers!

Airbrush Much?

Ohh the magazines at the check out counter. You know you look at them, at least the cover. So what are you seeing? Nothing extremely important, just some famous people who are airbrushed to look amazing and perfect.Yeah I get jealous too. Why can't my skin be that flawless? Why can"t I be that skinny? Why can't i have those new shoes, that dress and those earrings? Because I'm a broke non-famous human who doesn't make loads of money by being on the front of a magazine cover making everyone else feel bad about themselves. We need less of those magazines that have no really useful information and more magazines that actually have useful information.

Now you may be asking yourself what a useful magazine is. Well it's not seventeen, or People or any of that stuff. What we need at grocery stores is hunting magazine, Truck/car magazines, news magazines. No more of that gossip junk that pollutes your mind with useless tid bits about how to lose 30 pounds in 3 days. Why is a hunting magazine useful? Well because when the zombie apocalypse actually happens that Seventeen magazine isn't going to help you. You need something that tells you about the guns you're going to need, about the animals that are in season that you can hunt, about all that stuff! You won't need to know how to lose 30 pounds in ten days because you're going to be running from zombies looking for a gun that you won;t know how to use!
